The pressures of Covid have finally reached my bank account and I have had to start taking a lot more work shifts whenever they are available. Because they are mostly late notice they are having a significant impact on my training planning. I am still managing to run every day but other sessions are getting dropped to suit. I have now passed 450 job applications since I left Neptune this time last year as I try to get back to a "real" job but Covid seems to be impacting that as well.
With thunder and lightning forecast for the middle of the first week, and knowing I might lose later days to work, I decided to try and front load my rides before the weather arrived. I went to Netherley and Newmachar for N-week. Then having decided that was a successful plan I front-loaded my next week with a Tuesday ride to Old Meldrum for O-week.
Nearly all of my swimming has been done in the paddling pool because of flooding in the river Dee. I did fit in an adventure trip to Loch Lee with some friends. That got me most of my second week swim miles in one go. But then I couldn't fit another swim and ended up slightly short. There is a suggestion that pools may re-open at the end of this month, but given the Covid paranoia, I am not holding my breath.
Barring a major injury I will pass 1,000 miles running in the next fortnight and I am on track to run 1,500 for the year. I am having to use a restricted version of excel online to manage my training spreadsheet at the minute. One of the functions that isn't available is changing the axes on graphs. That means the graph in my spreadsheet now looks like this:
Actuals, (Target) -
Bike 58.7 miles. (53.4 miles).
Run 52.3 miles. (28.6 miles).
Cumulative Actual, (Cumulative Target), [Cumulative Stretch] -
S 75.7, (100.4), [105.4],
B 1174.0, (1003.9), [1054.1],
R 958.1, (535.3), [562.2].
Core - 32, (34), [45]
Weights - 32, (34), [45]
Stretching - 36, (34), [45]
Yoga - 23, (52), [62].
Fast run sessions - 33, (>34)
