Fortnightly Review - Weeks 29 & 30

I have mentioned my depression a couple of times in recent blogs but we have reached a point now where it deserves more airspace. My motivation for racing this year is gone, but at the same time not having a 'real' job, and the continuing lockdown limitations preventing me from having any kind of social life have all combined. This has been nibbling away for a while and I have kept hiding behind training as my training targets.

I have reached a virtual Groundhog Day. I stay in bed an hour past my alarm. I sit and watch TV till I can drag myself out to run just before lunch. Then I sit and watch TV till dinner while ignoring all my DIY jobs and maybe drag myself out for another short session if the day looks nice. Then I have my dinner and watch TV till bed time.

Towards the end of the first week I realise I have done nothing but run and try to cram everything else in to the weekend.

The first week of this fortnight I left too much for the weekend and even with cramming run, ride, swim, and yoga in to Sunday before work I still came up slightly short on targets. As one last throwback to how epic my Elgin ride was last week. The entire week had a Training Peaks Total Stress Score of 427. Last week's 72 miles to Elgin had a TSS of 421 on its own.

The second week I did a better job of balancing bike and swim sessions earlier in the week, but then still left all the small sessions and ended up cramming all of those in to the weekend instead. Ending up doing my yoga after I came home from work on Sunday night.

I have done four swims in the sea during this fortnight. Still not a fan of the salt water, but they were at least good for some social contact with the outside world.

I passed 1,000 bike miles. I passed 800 and then 850 run miles. I passed my longest annual run miles (842) ever.
