Fortnightly Review - Weeks 35 & 36

I have picked up my first real injury for the year. I have done something to my right shin while trying to race a virtual 3k. I ran 11:32 so was pretty pleased but the next day my shin was swollen and extremely painful. I even had to quit a work shift half way through as I couldn't really walk on it. I took a few easy days where I ran absolute minimum amounts to keep my streak going and then tried to add a couple of little pool swims and easy rides back on to that. It seems to be improving but slowly. 

For my P rides I went literal and delivered my granny's Pee sample to the doctor, then I went to Garlogie and did Part of the TT loop for a virtual 10k, and then I did a Persely loop just to finish off my numbers for the week. For Q I did a Quick visit to granny and rode both ways. Then at the weekend I tried to do a couple of quiet rides at the weekend just to get my numbers without doing any more impact damage to my shin. 

I missed a lot of swimming. The one sea swim I attempted, I bailed after 6 minutes because of the choppy water and cold. I tried to go straight home from that and get in the pool but even that was too cold. The turn in the weather is going to make it much more difficult to keep the pool warm enough now. I did a couple of short pool swims just to do something. The latest news on swimming pools reopening is that it is probably going to be another month or more. Even if they were to open tomorrow I am not going to catch up to my annual target.  

I passed through 1,000 miles of running on September 4th. That leaves me pretty much on track for 1,500 miles in the year.
